Selama beberapa minggu terakhir, Dropbox di laptopku mendadak tidak bisa sync. Bahkan untuk start pun tidak.
Search kesana kemari, akhirnya dapat tips berikut:

cd ~
rm .dropbox-dist
rm .dropbox
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get –purge remove nautilus-dropbox
sudo apt-get –purge autoremove

lalu dari dropbox.com , ambil installer untuk Debian 64 bit, bukan yang Ubuntu 64 bit (entah kenapa begitu)

Install dengan

sudo dpkg -i “dropbox_1.6.0_amd64 .deb”

Kemudian dari launcher, jalankan Dropbox.

Sudah, proses link akan dimulai

Ini catatan untuk diri sendiri, sekedar supaya tidak lupa

Thanks to cyanogenmod and others at xda, (especially mikrotik a.k.a rahadian) now I can use the latest softwares at Google Play Store such as Google Keep and Google Chrome!

I’m using the PPA ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-prereleases

Got caught in a dependency hell recently:

sudo apt-get install libreoffice
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libreoffice : Depends: libreoffice-core (= 1:3.5.4-0ubuntu1.1) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libreoffice-writer but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libreoffice-calc but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libreoffice-impress but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libreoffice-draw but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libreoffice-math but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libreoffice-base but it is not going to be installed
Recommends: libreoffice-gnome but it is not going to be installed or
libreoffice-kde but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Tried to trace it:

sudo apt-get install libreoffice libreoffice-core

What the ?????

sudo apt-get install libreoffice libreoffice-core libexttextcat0-data

OK, time for Google. Found some suggestion to purge the offending package to downgrade it.

sudo apt-get purge libexttextcat0-data
[sudo] password for philip:

Still wrong ….

apt-cache search libexttextcat
libexttextcat-data - Language detection library - data files
libexttextcat-dev - Language detection library - development files
libexttextcat0 - Language detection library

Gotcha! So there’s a one character difference in naming the package!

My school, Campuhan College in Ubud, is in need of a more effective student management software. The school has grown a lot, and hand written excel sheet is not enough anymore.

So I tested 2 open source solution available, SchoolTool and Fedena.

Due to Zope’s dependency hell, I failed to install SchoolTool. Even adding SchoolTool PPA does not help, since the specifically recommended to upgrade Ubuntu to the latest. Since I believe that servers should run LTS versions instead of the shorter support version, this solution does not work for me.

Next come Fedena.
